MBaaS as a Service

MBaaS (Mobile Backend as a Service) have been extremely useful in our rapid prototyping and development of client mobile apps.

Our experience with parse.com and built.io has been generally very positive. Among their top features, an easy learning curve and intuitive APIs, both for JavaScript and Objective C/Swift.

They are fast to set up and easy to scale-up. When developers see the analytics and dashboard capabilities, they are impressed. Clients love them.

The general idea of MBaaS is that mobile apps need common services that can be shared among apps instead of being custom developed for each. Mobile apps using MBaaS follow a loosely coupled distributed architecture, and MBaaS systems themselves typically have more distributed architectures than MEAP systems, which tended to be unified middleware servers.
InfoWorld compares five MBaaS proveders according to key metrics. Good read.
